Community Engagement and CARE Center Coordinator

Purpose

The Community Engagement and CARE Center Coordinator will focus on community engagement, particularly with Hispanic and underserved populations, to foster relationships with local organizations and provide resources and support for student success. The coordinator will be instrumental in developing partnerships, finding financial resources for students, and enhancing student access to education. In addition, the coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the CARE Center, including but not limited to the food pantry, volunteer coordination, and case management services for students experiencing basic needs insecurities. The coordinator will ensure compliance with Title V grant requirements and prepare reports on program achievements.

Major Responsibilities

Community Engagement Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with organizations that serve Hispanic and underserved communities, such as charities, service clubs, churches, and governmental entities.
  • Conduct outreach to increase awareness of college opportunities and connect students with resources for enrollment, affordability, and persistence.
  • Partner with cultural centers and support services to provide programming that enhances diverse student populations' cultural understanding and belonging.
  • Organize and co-sponsor events like speaker series, art exhibitions, and workshops, showcasing role models and celebrating cultural heritage.
  • Collaborate with NTCC departments to support Hispanic and underserved populations

Partnership Development Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with at least 25 community organizations, aiming to conduct 50 college information events annually.
  • Work with external entities to create new opportunities or enhance events that expose Hispanic and underserved individuals to higher education.
  • Identify and address barriers to college success, including financial challenges, family-school balance, and immigration-related concerns.

CARE Center Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including but not limited to the food pantry, administration, and volunteer staff.
  • Provide case management to students experiencing basic needs and insecurities, connecting them to campus and community resources.
  • Track and analyze student usage, outcomes, and program effectiveness data for continuous improvement.
  • Plan and coordinate workshops, events, and awareness activities, such as Hispanic Appreciation Month, Dia de los Muertos, and other cultural celebrations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor鈥檚 degree in social work, sociology, public administration, or a related field. Master鈥檚 degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience in program management, case management, or community outreach, preferably in a higher education or non-profit setting. 
  • Demonstrated experience with financial aid resources.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Experience working with underserved and Hispanic communities in an educational setting. 
  • Familiarity with higher education policies and cultural programming.
