Three NTCC Biology 2389 students, Gracie Gray, Isabel Tresidder, and Stephanie Hernandez, and Dr. Chris T. McAllister, Biology, traveled to the Ouachita Mountains Biological Station (OMBS), Big Fork, Arkansas, March 21-23, 2025, to continue their research on fish parasites from the Ouachita River watershed. What they believe to be a new species of myxosporean was discovered on the gills of a northern hogsucker fish, and another on the fin of a green sunfish. Most importantly, these students acquired knowledge in research that will be remembered for years as well as coauthor scientific publications from this noteworthy event.
