The 草榴社区 Professional Driving Academy continues to grow and supply high-demand CDL drivers to the local area. Six new students graduated from the program over spring break, making a total of 21 graduates since the program started last September.
鈥淲e have really seen an uptick in interest in the driving academy lately,鈥 Jimmy Smith, NTCC Workforce Developer, said. 鈥淭he program only takes a few weeks to complete and gives graduates an excellent start in a field with high earning potential.鈥
Making the program even more desirable is the fact that NTCC is now officially a Texas Department of Public Safety Third Party Testing Site for CDL Skills Testing.
鈥淚n short, this means that not only do we get the luxury of training our students here, but we also get to test them here. Everything from start to finish is done here at NTCC,鈥 Smith said.
The four-week professional driving academy includes 160 hours of training and the cost includes the DOT physical, drug screen, MVR and CDL permit. Students spend 50 hours in the classroom and 110 hours on the road driving. The cost is $4,191 and limited financial aid may be available.
To sign up or for more information, please call 903-434-8330 or e-mail continuinged@ntcc.edu. You can also learn more at . Students must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a DOT physical, drug screen and MVR check.
