NTCC Funeral Service Program brings affordable, innovative training to 草榴社区 Texas

草榴社区 recently received formal notification that its Funeral Service program has been granted a three-year accreditation with the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE). This makes NTCC one of only five funeral service education programs in the state of Texas. 鈥燬tudents who graduate from the program with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Funeral Services are eligible to sit for certification exams in both funeral directing and embalming.

草榴社区 Texas Ag-Stravaganza coming to NTCC

The 草榴社区 Agriculture Department will host the 草榴社区 Texas Ag-Stravaganza June 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the NTCC Ag Complex. The event, sponsored by NTCC, Creative Insight Community Development and the Ark-Tex Council of Governments, will introduce two new agriculture initiatives coming to 草榴社区 Texas.

Guests will learn about Texas Golden Kiwis and how this and other new hybrid crops are changing the agricultural landscape ? and how they can work on local farms.

Dr. Clinton participates in Workforce and Economic Prosperity Summit

Dr. Ron Clinton, NTCC President, served on a Presidents Panel at the 草榴社区 Texas Regional Alliance Workforce and Economic Prosperity Summit in Mount Pleasant Wednesday. He was joined by Dr. Pam Anglin, Paris Junior College; Dr. Emily Cutrer, Texas A&M University - Texarkana; and James Henry Russell, Texarkana College. The event discussed ways to produce skilled workers in 草榴社区 Texas. Julian Alvarez, Commissioner Representing Labor for the Texas Workforce Commission, was the keynote speaker.

Shelby Auto Body program helps a Cobra dream become reality

The 草榴社区 Carroll Shelby Auto Body program recently helped make a dream come true as they finished out a rare 427 Cobra kit car. John Weatherly, a member of the Shelby Cobra Association of Texas (SCAT) from the Dallas area, fell in love with Cobras when he saw one in a magazine during high school in the 1960s. Many years later, he and his wife were at a car show where he learned about kit cars and began on the road to building his very own Cobra.

?I looked at Kit Car Magazine, sent for some information, located Lone Star Classics and started buying parts.

NTCC, A&M-Texarkana sign agreement in Medical Assisting

Officials from Texas A&M University-Texarkana and 草榴社区 met on the NTCC campus May 25 to sign a new articulation agreement between the two schools. The signing combines the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Assisting from NTCC with the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Degree from A&M-Texarkana. NTCC President, Dr. Ron Clinton (right) is pictured formalizing the agreement with A&M-Texarkana President, Dr. Emily Cutrer.

Board swears in members for new terms, Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Award presented

The 草榴社区 Board of Trustees swore in three members for new terms at the regular May meeting Tuesday night. Governor Bill Ratliff swore in fellow members Sondra Fowler, Sid Greer and Dr. Dan McCauley, who all kept their places on the board after being unopposed for a May election. Fowler, who serves in Place Three on the board, was elected to finish out the last two unexpired years of her term, which she was appointed to after John Bryan retired from the board last year. Greer (Place Four) and McCauley (Place Seven) will serve full six-year terms.

Adult Education accepting new GED, ESL students

The Adult Education Department at 草榴社区 is accepting new鈥爏tudents for its GED (General Equivalency Diploma) and ESL/Citizenship Fast Track classes.鈥燭hose interested in participating in either of these free educational programs鈥爏hould call to make an appointment for registration. 鈥燱hile classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at鈥105 N. Riddle Street in Mount Pleasant.
