Emergency Medical Services EMT-Basic Certificate
Introduction to the level of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Includes all the knowledge and skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an EMS public or private service fire department or other specialized service areas. Certification Agencies: National Registry of EMT's and the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Instruction providing detailed education training and work-based experience and direct patient/client care generally at a clinical site. Specific detailed learning objectives are developed for each course by the faculty. On-site clinical instruction supervision evaluation and placement is the responsibility of the College faculty. Clinical experiences are unpaid external learning experiences. Course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. (Fall Spring Summer)

This course teaches the basics of muscular conditioning with the use of specially designed weight machines. Students will be assessed as to current condition and an individualized program will be developed to meet the desires and needs of each one.

This course is a study and practical application of medical vocabulary system. Includes structure recognition analysis definition spelling pronunciation and combination of medical terms form prefixes suffixes roots and combining forms. (Fall Spring Summer)

Topics address recently identified current events skills knowledge and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. This course is designed for the pre-hospital professional.
Introduces and develops foundational skills in applying essential and emerging business productivity information technology tools. The focus of this course is on business productivity software applications including word processing spreadsheets databases presentation graphics data analytics and business-oriented utilization of the internet.
