I have been an educator since 1998, working primarily in high schools throughout my career. The bulk of my career was spent as a school counselor, where I found the opportunity to leverage my graduate studies in psychology, particularly around solution-focused brief counseling theories. I then became a high school principal, which peaked my awareness and interest in overall healthy, human psychology. I currently lead a team at Region 8 Education Service Center that serves both school counselors and principals. My work there, in part, includes supporting schools in providing services that meet the mental and behavioral health needs of students in our region. As teaching and inspiring learning is my number one passion, I have enjoyed teaching Education and Psychology courses for NTCC since 2011. My husband and I have a daughter, and we live in 草榴社区 Texas with 3 dogs, a lamb, and a lot of pine trees.

Hi everyone!

My name is Wendy Mills and I teach online Psychology courses for NTCC. Since I teach online, I don鈥檛 have the opportunity to meet everyone in person, so let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Big, hot, humid, not a fan! I began my study of Psychology as an undergraduate at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. (Gig鈥橢m Ags!) I graduated from TAMU in May 1995 and returned to Houston. Still big, hot, humid. Still not a fan. I attended graduate school at the University of Houston Clear Lake and earned my Master of Arts degree in Psychology in August 1998. During this time, I married my junior high school sweetheart (who is a basketball coach). Any sports fans out there? We have two beautiful teenage daughters. I have a mini golden doodle named Bear. These folks keep me busy!

When I鈥檓 not teaching, I do love to cook, read, hike and travel. Oh yeah, and I attend A LOT of sporting events. In total, I have taught collegiate level Psychology courses since August 1998. I have taught at various local universities/community colleges. I have taught in urban environments, rural environments, and out in burbs. I have taught in an array of environments and to an array of diverse students.

Currently, I teach all online courses. Don鈥檛 you love modern technology? The past few years, I have been very involved with the Quality Matters program (University of Maryland online). I have been taking courses from their program and learning how to better my online courses. I spend a fair amount of time taking my course sites and making sure they are meeting QM standards. During this process, I may or may not have tortured Mary Lou Pemberton with tons of questions. J

My favorite quote is short and to the point:

鈥淣ever, Never, Never, Never, Never Give Up.鈥

--Winston Churchill

My name is Meagan Beard and I partner with Mrs. Mills for PSY2301 and PSY2314. I have been an Online Coach for NTCC for the past 2 years now, and I enjoy working with students who are on the path to careers in Social Science.

I was born and raised in Waco, TX and attended Baylor University for my undergraduate and graduate degrees. My husband is a college basketball coach, so we moved to Oklahoma and Arkansas before returning back to Waco where he coaches at Baylor. I was a Kindergarten Teacher for 5 years before staying home with our now 4-year-old son and 2-month-old son. I love getting to stay home with them and work from home!
