Andrew Yox wins David C.DeBoe Award

²ÝÁñÉçÇø Professor and Honors Director Dr. Andrew Yox was recently presented with the David C. Deboe Award by the Texas State Historical Association (TSHA). Yox received an award of $200 and a Lone Star trophy on March 3.†



The annual DeBoe award goes to the faculty sponsor of a student history association who has supported significant student scholarship and participation in Texas history.††



As director of NTCC Honors, Dr. Yox has mentored six student winners of the Caldwell Award for essays in Texas History and has guided Presidential Scholars in making two student films in Texas History. Three of Yox's students have also published articles in Texas history in the journal Touchstone, published by the Texas State Historical Association to promote student undergraduate and graduate scholarship.



Yox is a resident of Mount Pleasant and has been a professor at NTCC for 18 years.†He is Associate Editor of the TSHA journal†°Õ´Ç³Ü³¦³ó²õ³Ù´Ç²Ô±ð,†a member of the 13-member editorial board that includes college and university professors, and the educational director of the TSHA.†Yox is also on the Executive Committee of the Great Plains Honors Council.† Several NTCC Presidential Scholars have presented and won awards from this Council with work relating to Texas History.
