This is a standard first course in calculus.聽 Topics include limits continuity; definition of the derivative of a function and techniques of differentiation; applications of the derivative to maximizing or minimizing a function; the chain rule mean value theorem and rate of change problems; curve sketching; the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus; definite and indefinite integration of algebraic trigonometric and transcendental functions with an application to calculation of areas. Fundamental principles of chemistry for majors in the sciences health sciences and engineering. 聽Topics include measurements fundamental properties of matter states of matter chemical reactions chemical stoichiometry periodicity of elemental properties atomic structure chemical bonding molecular structure solutions properties of gases and introductions to thermodynamics quantum mechanics and descriptive chemistry. Successful completion (final grade of C or better) of CHEM 1411 will allow the student to continue on to CHEM 1412. (Fall Spring Summer)

Intensive study of and practice in writing processes from invention and researching to drafting revising and editing both individually and collaboratively. Emphasis on effective rhetorical choices including audience purpose arrangement and style. Focus on writing the academic essay as a vehicle for learning communicating and critical analysis.
English Composition I is a prerequisite for all 2000-level literature courses.

This is a calculus-based physics course intended for students majoring in computer science engineering mathematics physics or related fields of study. Topics include 1-D motion 2-D motion rotational motion Newton's laws energy momentum equilibrium gravity oscillatory motion waves and heat. (Fall)

Topics include: chemical equilibrium solutions phase diagrams acid-base concepts thermodynamics kinetics electrochemistry nuclear chemistry and descriptive inorganic chemistry. Focus on the types of documents necessary to make decisions and take action on the job such as proposals reports instructions policies and procedures email messages letters and descriptions of products and services. Practice individual and collaborative processes involved in the creation of ethical and efficient documents.

This is a calculus-based physics course聽intended for students majoring in computer science engineering mathematics physics or related fields of study. Topics聽include charge electric fields magnetic fields electric potential current capacitance resistance electromotive force simple DC and AC circuits induction electromagnetic waves propagation of light and geometric optics. (Spring)
PHYS 2425 (completed) and MATH 2414 (completed or concurrent).

Fundamental principles of organic chemistry will be studied including the structure bonding properties and reactivity of organic molecules; and properties and behavior of organic compounds and their derivatives. 聽Emphasis is placed on organic synthesis and mechanisms. 聽Includes study of covalent and ionic bonding nomenclature stereochemistry structure and reactivity reaction mechanisms functional groups and synthesis of simple molecules.聽 Also includes radical reactions and infrared spectroscopy. Continuation of CHEM 2423. Advanced principles of organic chemistry will be studied. Advanced principles of organic chemistry will be studied.聽 Topics include: the properties and reactions of alcohols ethers conjugated systems aromatic compounds aldehydes ketones carboxylic acids and their derivatives and amines with emphasis on synthesis and mechanisms.聽 Spectroscopic methods of structure determination of organic molecules is also covered.聽 (Spring)

An analysis of the economy as a whole including measurement and determination of Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply national income inflation and unemployment. Other topics include international trade economic growth business cycles and fiscal policy and monetary policy.

The foundation of the NTCC Engineering Program consists of comprehensive Mathematics and Physics courses which help engineering students gain mastery of the required tools need for Engineering. Engineers use technology and creativity to improve the world around us. Engineers are involved in every type of industry and in the design and manufacturing of products that we use every day. Our annual Engineering Roundtable event provides a unique opportunity for both NTCC engineering students and area high school students to interact with practicing engineering in our local industries.
