Guaranty Bank & Trust wins 2024 NTCC Foundation Golf Classic

The 草榴社区 Foundation held its annual Golf Classic on Monday, Oct. 21st at Princedale Country Club in Pittsburg. The tournament raised over $20,000 to support the NTCC Work4College Program.

The Guaranty Bank and Trust team won the six-man-scramble, shooting 19 under.  The winning team (pictured from left) included Tyler Verner, Trent Abbott, Jey Yancey, Patrick Redfearn, and Jace Baker. In the closest to the hole contest, Grady Townsend won first place and Robby Dunn won second place.

Isabel Tresidder conducts biological research through independent study course

Isabel Tresidder (pictured) is a home-schooled student from Naples, Texas, who graduated in 2024, and is in her first semester at NTCC. She is majoring in biology and plans to pursue a career in medicine, specializing in surgery. She has a deep interest in biological research and is taking an independent study course this semester under the tutelage of Dr. Chris McAllister.  She is working on parasites of California rodents and hopes to continue her studies at NTCC with Dr. Mac.  Most importantly, she will likely get a publication from her work.

Three students complete Professional Driving Academy

The 草榴社区 Professional Driving Academy continues to grow and supply high-demand CDL drivers to the local area. Three new students recently graduated from the program. New Environmental Science course to be offered next spring

草榴社区 is pleased to announce that there is a new course available in the Natural Sciences. Environmental Science I (ENVR 1401) is a survey of the forces, including humans, that shape our physical and biologic environment, and how they affect life on Earth. Introduction to the science and policy of global and regional environmental issues, including pollution, climate change, and sustainability of land, water, and energy resources.  Lab activities will cover methods used to collect and analyze environmental data.

Last chance to sign up for fall 2nd 8-weeks

There is still time to register for the fall 2nd 8-week term at NTCC! Classes start Monday, Oct. 21st. Most current students should be able to register online in the . New students and those who cannot register online should e-mail advising@ntcc.edu or stop by the Student Services Building.

This is a great opportunity to pick up an extra class and be one step closer to graduation! Classes are available both in-person and online.

A&M Texarkana plans on-site admission day at NTCC

Texas A&M University Texarkana will be on the NTCC campus on Wednesday, Oct. 23rd for an On-Site Admission Day. They will be set up in the SUB from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Those planning to transfer to A&M-Texarkana will be able to apply, be admitted and register for classes all in one visit. Those who are admitted during the event will be entered to win a Counselor Recommendation Scholarship.

Psi Beta launches Kindness Rocks project around campus

Have you noticed colorful painted rocks around campus? On September 18 and again on October 2, Psi Beta members and guests made Kindness Rocks!

鈥淜indness rocks are intended to inspire creativity and spread happiness. People of all ages find a rock, paint and decorate it with either pictures or quotes and then place them around an area for others to find鈥 explained Solveig Strottman, Psi Beta Vice President.

NTCC's Phi Theta Kappa chapter receives Mellon Foundation Grant

Alpha Mu Chi, NTCC's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, recently received its fifth grant from the Mellon Foundation. The chapter will use the $1,000 to explore northeast Texas Folklore. The month of October is being nicknamed "Folk-tober," and each Monday in the month the chapter is showcasing a different aspect of the unique folklore and culture of the region. October 7 is the Choctaw Cultural Center Presentation, October 14 is M.J. Hayes local author and storyteller, October 21 is Bigfoot Booth, and October 28 is tales from the 草榴社区 Texas Ezekiel Airship and Rural Heritage Museum.
