²ÝÁñÉçÇø will recognize Black History Month with two separate events during February.

The Brother To Brother Organization will host the "Outspoken African American History" program as a way to pay tribute to African American heroes throughout history.

The event will be held at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on February 22 from noon to 1 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Helen Hampton of Naples recently gave $20,000 to benefit the Campaign for the Whatley at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø. The ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Industrial Technology Program recently held a graduation celebration for the first class of students to complete the level 1 certificate in the new program. The Eagles split another double-header Wednesday as they took on Grayson County College in Dennison.

After suffering an 8-0 loss in the opening game of the day, the Eagles bounced back with a 3-2 victory in the second contest.

Christina Martin helped lead NTCC to victory in the second game as she was 2-3 at the plate while Katie Holcomb and Hannah Holovach both had a hit and each scored a run in the win.

²ÝÁñÉçÇø will present speaker Justin Jones-Fosu for "ACT Responsibly: The Diversity Edition" on Monday, February 20 from noon to 1 p.m. in Student Union Building room 101.

The Eagles softball team used a resilient effort to pick up its first win of the season Friday afternoon, bouncing back from a 10-1 loss in first game of a double-header to earn a 4-3 victory over visiting North Central Texas College.

Victory did not come easy, though, as the Eagles had to hold off a late charge from the Lady Lions to pick up the win. NTCC led 4-0 heading into the seventh inning only to see the Lady Lions score three runs to cut the deficit to a single run.

This week NTCC President Brad Johnson announced the college would begin a search for a new Director of Agriculture. †Dr. Charlie Apter, the present director, will step aside immediately and a national search for his successor has already begun.

?This is not a new direction, but a leadership change intended to bring an intensified pace of development,? Johnson said.

?Enrollment is a factor but only one of several fundamental markers I considered in making this difficult decision.

The Continuing Education Department at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø offers a variety of learning opportunities for members of the community. From personal enrichment classes to training for a new career, there are many non-credit options to choose from.
