NTCC Rodeo kicks off spring season

The ²ÝÁñÉçÇø (NTCC) Rodeo Team competed in the first rodeo of the spring season February 7 and 8 at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens.†The Rodeo Team had a very successful showing, with four students placing in individual events allowing the team get closer to its goal of sending representatives to the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in June.††

Kolby Miller placed second in the long go during the team roping event, and placed 10th overall with Kyler Bramhall coming

February 11 weather closure

All ²ÝÁñÉçÇø locations will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11 due to winter weather. Food services WILL †be available to students who live on campus. The Mt. Pleasant Daily Tribune political forum that was scheduled for tonight is also cancelled.

NTCC will continue to monitor the weather and will announce any further closures by 6 a.m. tomorrow if necessary.

The NTCC Eagles baseball and softball games scheduled for Wednesday have been postponed.

Eagles Softball drops two to LSU Eunice

† † † †The ²ÝÁñÉçÇø (NTCC) Eagles softball team took a†double loss against the Louisiana State University Eunice Bengals during†Saturday's home games.†The loss is the first for the Eagles this season after having won both of†their season opening games last week.

† † † †The Bengals took a commanding lead early in the first game, scoring four†unanswered runs before the end of the second inning.†Brianna Williams scored the first run of the day for the Eagles, but is†was not enough as the Bengals scored another three runs to win the first†game 7-1.

Eagles Baseball picks up three wins against Pratt

† † † †The ²ÝÁñÉçÇø (NTCC) Eagles baseball team secured†their first win of the season on Saturday against the Pratt Community†College Beavers. The Eagles and the Beavers squared off for two†doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday and the Eagles won three of the four†games played this weekend.


† † † †NTCC took an early lead in the second inning of the first game and went on†to pick up a shutout, 3-0, win over the Beavers.

Stone sculptures on display at Whatley Center


The ²ÝÁñÉçÇø art department is currently hosting an art exhibit by stone sculptor Stacy Deslatte of Longview. The display, which runs through March 7, is featured in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the NTCC campus. The exhibit is open free to the public during regular business hours. NTCC Phi Theta Kappa wins national USA Today competition

† † † †Alpha Mu Chi, ²ÝÁñÉçÇø?s chapter of Phi Theta†Kappa, earned national acclaim as one of four chapters to win the 2013 Honors Case†Study Challenge competition sponsored by USA Today. Tied to the larger Phi†Theta Kappa Honors in Action research project, the Case Study Challenge†competition gives chapter members an opportunity to focus their attention on a†specific area of study.

NTCC Webb Society presents new film about Wright Patman

Charles Shafer, in his memoir of life in ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Texas, noted that when he was young, Congressman Wright Patman seemed to speak to local residents with the voice of God?and he ?appeared about as old.?† Patman represented ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Texas in Washington D.C. from 1929 to 1976, and is commemorated today by the Bowie and Cass County lake that bears his name.

But what did his life and tenure say about our region?† What kind of man was he? This is a question that the ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Webb Society has sought to answer in a new film about Wright Patman's life.
