NTCC Baseball wins 3 of 4 at opening tourney

The NTCC Eagles baseball team went 3-1 to open the Fall 2012 season this weekend as they played host to a tournament at Bob Baker Field.

The Eagles split Friday?s two games as NTCC downed Bossier Parish 7-0 in the day?s early game before dropping the nightcap to Weatherford, 1-0.

NTCC bounced back with a pair of wins Saturday as the Eagles beat Weatherford 12-3 before earning a 12-9 victory over Grayson College.

Former Eagles named top baseball prospects

Two former ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Eagle baseball players earned high praise this summer as Shane Segovia (Missouri) and Mark Robinette (Oklahoma State) were named to Perfectgame.org?s Top Summer League Baseball Prospect List.
Segovia and Robinette both played with the St. Joseph Mustangs this summer, the winner of the MINK (Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas) college summer baseball league.
Segovia was named the League?s No. 2 prospect after hitting .331 with 21 RBI and 13 walks while Robinette was named the league?s No.

Reception held for Evetts art exhibit

The work of local artist, Toni Evetts, is currently being featured at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø. Her exhibit, entitled "Experimental Techniques" is on display in the Whatley Foyer until September 14. A meet-the-artist reception was held on Wednesday, Sept. 5. Lady Eagles soccer picks up first win of season

A strong first-half performance was the key to victory for the Lady Eagles soccer team Saturday as they picked up a 3-2 win over visiting Eastfield College.

NTCC overcame stifling heat and the Eastfield defense to score three goals in the opening period of the contest before holding off a late Lady Harvester charge to earn the victory.

?We were able to come out strong in the first half, but we started breaking down in the second,? Lady Eagle Head Coach Desmond Barron said.

Eagles Soccer kicks off season with men's win, women's loss

A late-game goal was the difference for the Eagles Tuesday as ²ÝÁñÉçÇø opened the fall 2012 season with a road win at Ranger College.

Tied 1-1 in the final minutes of the contest, the Eagles? Miguel Almazan scored from short distance with less that five minutes to play in what would turn out to be a 2-1 NTCC victory.

?We played a strong game with high pressure and good intensity and it was enough to get us a win,? Eagles? assistant coach Desmond Barron said.

College board approves budget, tax rate



The ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Board of Trustees approved a tax rate and budget for the 2012-2013 year at its meeting Tuesday evening.† The tax rate remains at its cap of 10 cents per $100 valuation and is projected to generate $3.182 million in revenue.

The budget was set at $17.922 million, and included reductions in planned deferred maintenance and in the growth of reserve funding.

?Given the dramatic enrollment increases of the last several years, the college has been able to make some progress in critical areas like fund balance, plant infrastructur

Eagles baseball to host tourney Sept. 7-8

The ²ÝÁñÉçÇø baseball team will kick off the 2012 fall season Sept. 7 as the Eagles host their annual fall tournament at Bob Baker Field.

Play gets underway at 1 p.m. as the Eagles take on conference foe Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers and continues at 4 p.m. as a Cavaliers face Weatherford. Day one of the two-day tournament ends with the nightcap game at 7 p.m. as the Eagles take on Weatherford.

There are four games scheduled for Saturday, Sept.
